The very fact that you are here reading this article tells me that you are someone who realizes that you can never get enough information on any particular topic.
So in light of that – I have added a few of the most important facts that you need to know to get the best out of your tomato crop this season.
Please remember that this is only a light guideline and that some of these pointers are affected by the different geological areas that you live in. you should still seek out more detail on any of the aspects that you think might need more attention.
The initial preparation of your soil is important, as tomatoes love a lot of compost and will grow deep roots in search of those nutrients. Make sure that the frost part of the season has passed before you plant the seedlings.
Plant into a “warmed” ground as this gives the plant a great start.
Plant the seedlings about a half a meter apart and pre put in posts for later support of the plant stems.
Put the plants into direct sunlight as they will need about 6 hours of sunlight a day to get the best chance of perfect tomatoes.
A breezy area is better than an enclosed area as this helps to stop the bottom of the plants from developing any fungus’s.
Use compost tea or worm tea on a weekly basis as the tomatoes love nutrients and will thrive if correctly fed.
Finally pick your tomatoes earlier rather than later as they will ripen off the plant and then will allow the plant to give more energy to the growing of the next fruit.
Keep those green leafy things on the tomato when you pick them as that helps the tomato to ripen quicker.
